Tahoe – Perhaps the Perfect Summer Running Camp Area!

The friendly 2024 presenters may include Carissa Galloway, Dr. Gary Moran (Physiology and Strength Training), Dr. David Hannaford (podiatrist), and virtually unlimited time with Jeff and Barb Galloway

We stay at the beautiful Granlibakken Tahoe resort. Amenities include a heated lap pool, a separate wading pool, hot tub, hiking and biking trails, tennis and pickle ball courts, a dedicated yoga and meditation space, a day spa, and more.

Camp begins on Sunday, July 21 with an easy get acquainted run at 5pm, followed by dinner on site. Camp ends on Friday, July 26th after a morning run and breakfast. Breakfast is included each day; seminars by Jeff and his presenters begin after breakfast. Seminar topics include Running Injury Free, Nutrition, Getting Faster/Speed Drills, Mental Training, Goal Setting, Shoe Selection, Pool Running, and Running Form/Analysis. Individual consultations with Jeff are also a part of camp.

After lunch (provided on site on Monday and Wednesday), you may choose to sight see, shop, swim, or join the group for a scenic hike, a t-shirt swap, bike ride, or a river raft ride. After dinner activities have included s’mores, story telling, and even ballroom dancing.
Dinner will be provided on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. The group will get together for dinner plans out on Monday and Wednesday.

You will be emailed a registration form and waiver after your deposit is received.

FAQ’s

When do the running camps begin and end?

The camp begin at 5 p.m. with a get- acquainted run/walk.  Camp ends after breakfast on the following Friday, and weekend camp ends after breakfast on Sunday. Check out time is 11 a.m. Flights to the east coast from Reno typically leave early- plan your flight accordingly or stay an extra day!

What does the fee include?

Your fee includes all seminars and lodging and most meals at Granlibakken Tahoe. Included meals are breakfast easy day and lunch on Monday and Wednesday and dinner on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Airfare, airport transportation are not included.

How much does it cost?


$2475 double per person, $2975 single

A Tahoe alumni discount will be applied to the final payment due May 1st, if applicable.

How many people attend?


The trend may change from year to year, but generally there will be 25-30 campers.
We welcome runners of all ages and paces!

Are non running spouses and family welcome at camp?

Absolutely! The Tahoe area has so much to offer vacationers. Your non running spouse/family will have many activities to choose from while you are attending the camp seminars.

Should I rent a car?

We carpool to runs and hikes, so a car is not necessary unless you wish to have it for free time exploring. Airport shuttles from Reno Tahoe Airport are booked by you through NorthLakeTahoeExpress.com.

What are the accommodations like at Granlibakken?

The standard rooms have one king, one queen, 2 queens, or 2 twin beds. Each room has a mini fridge and a microwave.

What is a typical day at camp?

Each day follows the same format: 6am run/walk, 8am breakfast, 9-12n seminars, 12n lunch if applicable, 1pm hike or free time. Dinner is at 6 and the evening is free after dinner. Often the group meets after dinner for a fun activity.
Afternoon hikes are generally rated easy to moderate and each hike has a detailed description and rating that can be viewed before the hike.

How far do we run each day?

We run/walk at 6am for 30 minutes out and 30 minutes back- you can turn around whenever you wish. We run in different locations each day and most runs have both a trail and a paved path option. There is an optional long run morning for those keeping to their training schedule. There is a Magic Mile morning for a timed mile run.

What is the weather like in July?

The mornings are cool- usually high 40’s. A long sleeved shirt is usually all you need for the morning runs. If you are from South Florida, you may wish to pack gloves and tights! Afternoon temps are usually high 60’s-mid 70’s, and a sweater would be appropriate for the cool evenings.

Is there free time?

Yes! Each afternoon and each evening after dinner are free, unless you wish to participate in a group outing. The Lake Tahoe area offers opportunities to hike, bike, golf, river raft, kayak, paddleboard, shop, and cruise on the Lake.
